The Zig

The Chancellor has been found dead. After years of ruling over The City, his dream of immortality, a complex AI that ran The City in his stead, has finally failed. News came quickly to the power brokers in The City. Now they vie for the power in the vacuum that the Chancellor has left. Will you be the next Chancellor?

A lighter euro game with high player interaction for two to six players.

Play time: 60-90 minutes

Ages 12+

Goal of the game

As a Power Broker, it is up to you to secure enough of the Chancellor’s mysterious Zig to declare yourself the next Chancellor. You must plan out your moves carefully, taking advantage of other's actions when you can and sabotaging them when you can't. Agents are at your disposal, ready to die for your cause. Use them wisely to turn the odds in your favor.

How you are going to do it

Consolidate your power

Send your Agents into the city to collect Money, peddle Influence, or rally people to your cause.

Sabotage other Power Brokers

Use your Agents or some dirty Espionage to set back your opponents.

Secure the Zig

Use the resources you've collected to secure the Chancellor's fabled Zig.

Avoid the hazards in the Zig

The Chancellor was a paranoid person and left defenses up when he died. You'll have to avoid the Auditor roaming the Zig looking for intruders.

How do you play the game?

Each round, all players will choose one Action Card and place it face down in front of them. Once everyone chooses an Action to take, all players will reveal their Action Cards simultaneously. Each action taken by the players determines the phases that occur in the round. Those who take the Action are the first ones to act during the phase. If multiple Players take the same Action, the Player closest to the Auditor cup clockwise goes first. After the Players who took the Action go, the other Players may follow the phase clockwise from the Auditor Cup. At the end of the round, each Player collects any resources that their Agents have accrued in the City and the action they played and returns it to their hand.

Once any Player accumulates 12 victory points by securing enough Zig cards, the game will end at the conclusion of the round. In cases of a tie for victory points, the Player with the most left over resources wins. If there is a second tie in resources, the Player with the most Agents in the city wins. If there is yet another tie, there are two ways to resolve it: The game either continues until the tie is broken or the Player in third place wins due to political infighting of the top two Players.
